Dark Woods: Hair Work 2008-2011

With this series of hair-working pieces, I am exploring the connective and ritualistic way of tying together fragments of history, folklore and dreams into a single, multifaceted narrative I call The Story of the Hunted. I use my own hair snipped into poweder-like pigment suspended in clear acrylic medium to paint scenes relating to the Weird Sisters: triplets with transformative powers in their ever-growing hair over the characters within the ongoing narrative of The Story of the Hunted.
Each image is an 8 x 10", human hair on mylar painting. They are each framed in handmade wood and bubble-glass frames.
